Frequently asked Questions

While I do not require it, masks are recommended on your flights, as well as any inter-country travel we do. If you are feeling off during the trip, please let us know. Wearing a mask will help prevent the spread to the others in the group. Newberry Travel will provide one free COVID test if things get hairy on the trip. Beyond that, you will need to secure your own. If you test positive, Newberry Travel will help organize somewhere to quarantine and advise on how to update your tickets, unfortunately, these will be at your own expense. Travel insurance will be required, which will help you out in the long run if this situation occurs.
-
Newberry Travel will do everything in its power to research the safety of a country prior to departure. As well as tracking any political or social instability. With that said, if you are still not feeling confident prior to departure, please review your travel insurance rules regarding a refund.
Also, Newberry Travel is understanding, while we need to protect the execution of the trip for the rest of the travelers in the group, we can still have a conversation on what next steps can look like.
-
Oh no! Did COVID get you the week before the trip?! Be sure to read through your travel insurance policy prior to committing to one provider. Different companies will offer different coverage, and Newberry’s recommendation is to always opt for more coverage. Unfortunately, if it falls within 90-days of the trip, we are not able to issue refunds.
-
You are not! But, do you have the sniffles? Be courteous to your fellow travelers and wear one when we’re in enclosed spaces. Newberry Travel also recommends you wear your mask on any flights or public transit you may be on, there’s nothing worse than getting home from a trip and getting sick immediately!
-
In recognition of the importance of maintaining a safe environment for all, we strongly encourage vaccinations against COVID-19 and recommend regular testing as a preventive measure. We respect and trust each individual’s autonomy in making their own health decisions regarding vaccinations and testing. By fostering a supportive and respectful environment, we can collectively prioritize the health and safety of our community.
-
If you test positive for COVID-19 during the trip, you will need to follow the established health protocols, which may include isolation from the group until you are cleared to travel. Unfortunately, you will be responsible for any additional costs incurred, including accommodations, transportation, and any medical expenses. We strongly recommend having travel insurance that covers such situations to help mitigate these costs. Your health and safety are our top priorities, and we will do our best to assist you during this process.

While travel visas are something you will need to complete on your own, Newberry Travel will help provide links to resources and guidance on how to complete the request.

You’ll need a passport! Make sure it has enough available pages for stamps and typically each country requires it to be valid for 6 months after you leave. It is always a good idea to make a copy or two of your passport with you incase the real one gets lost (ah!).
Other than that, each country varies on documentation, but we will cover that in the welcome packet.
-
You absolutely do! We recommend Heymondo, but there are many travel insurance companies out there. There is more information in your welcome packet regarding what is required in your plan.
-
While we strive to accommodate various dietary requirements, we cannot guarantee that all specific needs can be fully met. We recommend that participants communicate their dietary restrictions in advance, and we will do our best to provide suitable options. However, please be prepared to supplement your meals if necessary, as some dietary preferences may be challenging to accommodate within the group's meal planning.
-

Newberry Travel recommends you bring a credit card and a debit card. The large majority of the world is more dependent on credit cards or even Apple pay than the US. But, there will always be times when cash is needed – we recommend you bring your debit card to pull money out of local ATMs or at banks as needed versus carrying cash with you.
But, everyone is different! So let’s chat about your plan and see how we can get to comfortable place to be prepared.
-
Tips are optional but recommended. Typically a 10 – 20% tip is encouraged for service you found outstanding. For meals or tours provided as part of the trip – tips are included in your price, no need to worry about that!
