The 46- hour day

Well, grandma and parents - we made it!

The travel portion was all too smooth, which makes me nervous. Got up at 3:40 on Feb 3rd to get the house put together and to head to the airport. Both planes were on time, we brought gifts for the flight attendants so our wine glasses always stayed full, and I listened to 3 books. It was dang near perfect!

When we got to Santiago we cruised through customs, and basically walked right onto the bus that'd take us to Valpo. No wasted time for us! Mauricio, Erik's friend from college, was waiting to take us to our hotel as soon as we arrived. We grabbed breakfast and checked into our hotel.

Okay, so now here's the deal. What do you consider "1 day"? Is it a 24-hour period? Is it any type of nap that breaks up the day? Erik and I are in the mindset that if you haven't laid on a bed, and had a solid 6-8 hours of sleep - it is the same day.

So, we took a 3 hour nap after we checked in. Even though it was now Feb 4th, this was the longest period of time we've slept (still one day, obvi).

We had a fancy shmancy "YAY!" dinner with a beautiful view of the city. The live music at the restaurant was playing the soundtrack from 'Amelie' on their accordion. We had perfect pisco sours and the most delicious ceviche of our short lives. It was perfect, Erik shed a tear.

After dinner, we got ready for a night out (lol). We headed over to Mauricio's to pregame and in the wee hours of the morning on Feb 5th - we headed to Mascara and danced our faces off until 5am. We ran into someone Mauricio went to high school with who worked at CERN and Erik nerded out with science questions all night.

It was the most perfect way to start off this trip - with a 3 day first day.

Now. We sleep.
